Lots of Babies

Well, Park finally cut his first tooth day before yesterday. He's been teething for a while, which means not much solid sleep and as soon as he cut that tooth he slept for ten hours the next night. Which we (meaning I) were grateful for.

Well, there have been lots of babies born around here...well in our family at least. Steve and Jessica had their baby boy (after two girls) on the 23rd of May. Kaden Harris. Scott's sister Lori had her little girl (after three boys) Avery Rae yesterday morning. And my sister Julie had her little boy (their first child) this morning in Italy. Thankfully everything went well for both. We were really nervous about Julie having a baby in Italy where they are about 20 or so years behind us in medicine. She was in labor for 23 hours though...which seems weird for our family. My moms were all less than 8 hours and mine have all been 8 hours and less too. Sorry, Julie...you didn't get the right genes. They don't have a name for him yet though.

The Spurs won game one of the Finals last night and we all had a BBQ at gma Chamberlain's house last night and enjoyed the game together. SPUUUUUUURRRRRRRRS!

Well, those are the things that have been occuping our thoughts lately. Love you all!

Lovin' summer!

Today was Park's first experience with swimming...and boy did he have a GREAT time.

What were you doing ten years ago? Ten years ago...I was fourteen and in eighth grade. I was probably trying to convince my parents to let me go to East High for high school. I went to West High in seventh and eighth grade for a special program and I wanted to switch.

What were you doing one year ago? I was pregnant with Park and remembering why I don't love being pregnant. It's totally worth it, don't get me wrong.

Happy Memorial Day!

Today all of us that were in town went to visit Grandpa Chamberlain's grave. We all had a good time, especially the kids who were running around like crazy and having fun together. We think that's the way Dad would want it.
Scott wanted to put a golf ball and tee on Dad's grave. Golfing became a favorite of his when he and mom moved to Utah.

Park

Man! What a handsome guy! Well, we haven't said much in Park's way for a while, so I thought it was time. He turned six months old on Sunday and we had his six month appt yesterday. He was 14 lbs 2 oz and 25 inches long. In the 5th and 10th percentiles, respectively. With his head still in the 75th percentile. All is well, though. The dr. said that it's just fine that his head is that much bigger than the rest of him. This kid is all over the place now. He rolls wherever he wants and he has started scooting by planting his head on the floor and pushing himself around with his legs. He hasn't broken any teeth yet, but he is trying desperately. They are bulging and he knaws on and drools on anything within grasp. Well, that's all for now. I should be hearing back in the next couple of weeks if I got into the Bachelor of General Studies program. We'll let y'all know.

Well, I'm really excited about this...I just put in an application for the BYU Bachelor of General Studies Program. Being accepted shouldn't be a problem. The only stipulations are that I have already taken at least 30 credit hours on campus and that my GPA was better than a 2.0. Since I have almost 60 hours and my GPA was about 3.5, I'm not worried about getting accepted. I'm going to get my degree! Well, eventually anyway. It's an online independent study program and I plan on taking just a class or two at a time, but they give me eight years to finish my degree. I have about 60 credits left and I figure I can get it done if I take at least 9 credits a year, that's one class about every four months. I had been toying with the idea of at least just taking some online courses just to keep feeling intillectual some of the time, and then when I checked it out online I decided, why not just finish my degree while I'm at it? Anyway, that's the exciting news for this week.

Summer?

The few days have been in the 80s, which is unusual for this early in May...so we've been taking advantage of the warm weather and we've been swimming in the back yard.
Scott and I were able to get the garden going this last weekend. The soil out here is pretty poor, so we'll see how things really grow. We've got peas, potatos (my first try with these, we'll see if they grow), tomatos, cantelope and cucumbers. Wish us luck!
